Josh Hazlewood returns to Test cricket after 13-month injury layoff

Josh Hazlewood returns from a 13-month injury absence to lead Australia's pace attack against Bangladesh in Darwin.

Josh Hazlewood will end a 13-month absence from Test cricket when Australia face Bangladesh in the series opener in Darwin. The fast bowler missed Australia's home Ashes series last summer after a hamstring tear and then a calf strain.

He has changed his preparation this time. He wants to bowl more with Scott Boland, who stepped up during his absence and claimed a place in the side. Hazlewood has sat out eight of Australia's last 14 Tests through injury.

The 35-year-old is nearing 300 Test wickets. He will use the two-Test series to regain match fitness.

CricHubb Take

Boland's rise means Hazlewood may not walk straight back into the first-choice attack, especially if he needs a couple of Tests to find his length again.
