Parthiv Patel misses BCCI chief selector application deadline
Parthiv Patel will not replace Ajit Agarkar on the BCCI selection committee after failing to submit his application by the deadline.
Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has not applied for the vacant West Zone position on the BCCI senior men's selection committee before the October 14 deadline. The BCCI opened applications on October 6 for the role that requires applicants to have played at least seven Test matches or 30 first-class matches.
South Zone selector Pragyan Ojha will continue as interim chief selector because he has played the highest number of Tests among the existing committee members. Ramesh Powar and Sameer Dighe had applied when selectors' positions were last advertised and remain potential candidates.
The new selector will be responsible for picking India's teams across Tests, ODIs and T20Is, identifying emerging talent and building bench strength. The replacement is expected to be from West Zone, where Ajit Agarkar hailed from.
