Jharkhand batter Shikhar Mohan has been called up to the India A squad touring New Zealand after scoring 613 runs in his first Ranji Trophy season.
Mohan, 21, averaged 55.72 in 12 innings and also made 391 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His selection follows a fast-tracked route that began when a BCCI age-group rule blocked him from further Under-19 matches.
Coach Ishank Jaggi said Mohan impressed with his decision-making and instinct from an early age. Mohan will join the India A side after two seasons of domestic cricket.

Mohan's rise shows how quickly a domestic season can change a player's trajectory when the numbers align.
