Will Pucovski sues former school over concussion claims

Will Pucovski has sued his former school Brighton Grammar over alleged failures to follow concussion protocols after a 2014 incident.

Will Pucovski has sued Brighton Grammar, the school he attended as a teenager. The lawsuit claims the school failed to follow concussion protocols after a head knock in 2014, and that the negligence left him with ongoing symptoms that forced his retirement at 27.

Pucovski made his Test debut for Australia in 2021. Persistent concussion problems cut the career short, and the case now turns on whether Brighton Grammar properly assessed or managed the injury when it happened.

The court will look at the duty of care schools owe students in contact sports and what happens when that duty slips.

CricHubb Take

The suit could force schools to keep full concussion records for a decade or more, not just until the student leaves — otherwise they'll risk the same kind of claim years later when a career ends early.
