Gambhir criticises flat Guwahati pitch after 811-run match
Gambhir argued the 811-run match was good for records and crowds but not for developing bowlers.
Gautam Gambhir said the Guwahati surface offered no contest between bat and ball after India chased 406 for the loss of two wickets. The coach noted that young bowlers receive little protection when totals exceed 400 and called for conditions that give both disciplines a chance. Former players Madan Lal and Karsan Ghavri echoed the concern that flat pitches and short boundaries favour batters at the expense of bowlers.
