Matt Renshaw posted a career-best 190 from 397 balls to lift Australia to 390 all out in the first innings of the Durban Test. Renshaw shared a record 134-run stand for the ninth wicket with Nathan Lyon after Australia had slipped to 230 for eight.

The left-hander faced the first ball of 13 consecutive overs during the partnership, shielding Lyon and controlling the strike. Pat Cummins added 43 before the innings ended on day two.

South Africa replied with 27 for one at stumps, trailing by 363 runs. Renshaw's innings was his first Test hundred in nearly a decade and came after he resumed on 102 not out following a rain-shortened opening day.

CricHubb Take

Renshaw's strike-rate below 50 and the fact he faced nearly 70 percent of the balls in the last two wickets show the innings was built on occupation, not acceleration.
