The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the ODI and Test squads for the New Zealand tour on Friday. Shubman Gill will lead India in the first three ODIs and both Tests, while Shreyas Iyer will captain the final two ODIs. The Test series begins on November 19 in Wellington and forms part of India's campaign to reach the 2027 World Test Championship final.

Jasprit Bumrah returns to the Test squad after missing the series against Sri Lanka. Akash Deep earns a recall after recovering from a stress fracture, while Anshul Kamboj also returns. Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel miss out on the ODI squads, and Mohammed Shami is not included in the Test side despite recent domestic form.

Prasidh Krishna is named subject to fitness for the first three ODIs. Kumar Kushagra receives his maiden ODI call-up for the final two matches, replacing KL Rahul who shifts focus to the Tests. Rishabh Pant is included in the Test squad subject to fitness.

Splitting the ODI squad and resting Gill and Rahul ahead of the Tests shows the selectors are prioritising the two-match red-ball series over the 50-over format.
