IPL 2027 mini-auction set for December 16 in Goa with retentions due November 15
The IPL 2027 mini-auction will be held in Goa on December 16, one month after the November 15 retention deadline.
The IPL mini-auction for the 2027 season lands in Goa on December 16, the first time the event returns to India since 2022. ESPNcricinfo reports that all ten franchises must submit their retention lists by November 15, then have one week after that deadline to complete trades before the auction begins.
Two deals have already been struck: Rishabh Pant moved from Lucknow Super Giants to Delhi Capitals, and T Natarajan switched from Delhi Capitals to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The one-day auction coincides with the second India-Sri Lanka ODI at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
It's the last mini-auction before the mega auction scheduled for 2027 that will shape the 2028 season.
CricHubb Take
With the auction back on home soil and the calendar stacked against them, franchises will have to weigh long-term retention decisions without the usual off-season buffer, and a single misstep could leave gaps that the mega auction won't fix until 2028.
