Adelaide Strikers retain Darcie Brown and Amanda-Jade Wellington for WBBL|12
Adelaide Strikers have retained Darcie Brown and Amanda-Jade Wellington and signed Maia Bouchier for WBBL|12.
The Adelaide Strikers have retained Darcie Brown and Amanda-Jade Wellington ahead of WBBL|12 after securing Maia Bouchier from the Melbourne Stars. Sophie Ecclestone will return for a second season with the club.
The Strikers finished sixth in WBBL|11 with three wins, four losses and three no-results. They have also re-signed Maddie Penna and confirmed Laura Wolvaardt's continued presence. Tammy Beaumont will not return after the club signed Bouchier as her replacement.
The league has scrapped the overseas player draft for WBBL|12 and returned to an open-market system. Clubs can now build squads without a minimum overseas player requirement.
CricHubb Take
The open-market system gives clubs more control over overseas recruitment. Strikers have prioritised spin and pace options that fit their home conditions, which could matter in a shorter season.
