Sherfane Rutherford joins Sudurpaschim Royals for NPL 2026
Sherfane Rutherford signed for Sudurpaschim Royals while Shamim Hossain joined Lumbini Lions for NPL 2026.
Sherfane Rutherford has agreed to represent Sudurpaschim Royals in the third edition of the Nepal Premier League. The 28-year-old West Indies batter joins the franchise alongside Shamim Hossain, who signed for Lumbini Lions.
Rutherford has accumulated 5,090 runs from 283 T20 matches at a strike rate of 142.05. He has played 31 ODIs and 61 T20Is for West Indies and featured in the IPL, CPL, PSL and BPL.
Sudurpaschim Royals CEO Prakash Khadka said Rutherford's batting ability and franchise experience will strengthen the team. Rutherford said he is excited to play in front of Nepali supporters.

Rutherford's signing is a test of whether the NPL can keep overseas players once the novelty wears off. If the Royals finish near the bottom, his experience might not be enough to stop the next round of talent drifting to bigger leagues.
