Mumbai Indians named Kieron Pollard head coach for the 2027 IPL season on Saturday. Pollard replaces Mahela Jayawardene and takes charge after serving as the franchise's batting coach for the past four seasons. The 38-year-old played 189 matches for Mumbai Indians between 2010 and 2022, winning five titles. Pollard said the team must put the badge above individual interests and restore its identity at the Wankhede Stadium ahead of the November retention deadline.
CricHubb Take
Pollard's appointment shows Mumbai Indians are betting that loyalty and institutional memory can fix a six-year title drought faster than an external rebuild.
