The International Cricket Council released the full schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup on Thursday. India will open their campaign against Australia on October 7 at Newlands in Cape Town before facing Pakistan three days later at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A. Group B includes South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Qualifier B. The 14-team tournament will feature 57 matches across 12 venues in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21.

The format includes a three-team Super Series to determine the final qualifier, followed by two groups of six and a Super 7 stage. India and Pakistan could meet up to three times depending on qualification for later stages.

The new format locks India into the A1 seed regardless of group position, which changes how qualification drama plays out for the rest of the field. The Super 7s stage becomes the real tournament for everyone else.
