Jason Smith ruled out of T20I tri-series with adductor strain

Smith’s injury leaves South Africa short of an all-round option for the T20I matches.

CricHubb26 Aug 2026

South Africa all-rounder Jason Smith will miss the T20I portion of the tri-series against Zimbabwe and Namibia after suffering an adductor muscle strain. He will be assessed before the ODI leg begins on September 9. Zimbabwe have recalled Graeme Cremer after Richard Ngarava and Tanaka Chivanga were ruled out with injuries. Cremer returns to the national setup after a period away and will add to the spin options in the 15-man squad.

CricHubb Take

Cremer’s recall shows Zimbabwe are prioritising experience over raw pace for a tournament where their middle order has historically struggled against spin variations.
