BCCI named an independent panel to select Arunachal Pradesh teams after the state forfeited its Ranji Trophy opener.

The BCCI has appointed a three-member independent selection panel to conduct trials for Arunachal Pradesh's men's and women's teams across age groups and at senior level. M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar, a member of the BCCI Apex Council, will convene the process after the state forfeited its opening Ranji Trophy match against Nagaland. The panel comprises former Assam players Satya Gopal Chakraborty, Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Bora, with Chakraborty as chairman.

The move follows a legal dispute between two factions of the Arunachal Cricket Association pending before the Guwahati High Court. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the board stepped in to protect players' interests and ensure they do not miss further matches. Advertisements have been placed in newspapers inviting players to attend trials, with the committee conducting selections on merit without local interference.

Support staff will be appointed by Wednesday. The teams are expected to resume their domestic campaigns in the Ranji Trophy, Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy, Senior Women's T20 Trophy and Vijay Merchant Trophy.

The intervention shows the board is willing to bypass state associations when internal disputes threaten player participation in the domestic calendar.
