Shan Masood fears selectors may use injury to sideline him

Shan Masood worries that his calf injury could be used to justify his exclusion from Pakistan's Test squad against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan batter Shan Masood fears selectors could use his recent calf injury as grounds to drop him from the Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Interim coach Mike Hesson is reportedly pushing for the inclusion of younger players Abdullah Fazal and Sameer Minhas.

Masood, 37, was sacked as Test captain three months ago after a poor run of results. He has since scored a century against the West Indies and 95 in the final Test against England. He returned to domestic cricket but retired hurt on 22 against Oil and Gas with the calf issue.

The two-Test series begins in Rawalpindi on November 9. A three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka starts in Islamabad on November 4.

CricHubb Take

Masood's recent century and 95 won't save him if selectors want to blood the younger players. The injury gives them a clean reason to leave him out without looking like they're punishing him for the captaincy sacking.
