India and West Indies were fined by the ICC on Monday for maintaining slow over rates during the third ODI in New Chandigarh. India were docked 20 per cent of their match fee while West Indies lost 10 per cent after finishing four and two overs short respectively. Match referee Prakash Bhatt imposed the sanctions after the match on Saturday.

Both captains pleaded guilty to the offences and accepted the proposed sanctions. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma. The match lasted over nine hours.

West Indies won the match by chasing 352, their highest successful run chase in ODIs, with Shai Hope scoring an unbeaten 162. India won the series 2-1. The sides will now play a five-match T20I series starting Tuesday in Lucknow.

The fines will have little practical impact on team selection or preparation for the T20I series that begins in 24 hours. Both sides will focus on the shorter format without carrying forward any penalty-related restrictions or adjustments.
