Ayush Mhatre rested with hamstring niggle in Ranji Trophy
Mumbai vice-captain Ayush Mhatre has been rested after sustaining a hamstring niggle during the Ranji Trophy match against Chandigarh.
Mumbai vice-captain Ayush Mhatre sat out Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 fixture against Chandigarh at the Wankhede Stadium after scans on Monday revealed a hamstring niggle. He had already posted 48 in the first innings.
Sportstar understands the injury is being treated as a precaution, so Suved Parkar took the field as substitute. The same hamstring problem had earlier forced Mhatre out of the second half of IPL 2026 while he was Chennai Super Kings’ top scorer, finishing with 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87.

Mhatre's latest hamstring issue follows directly from the one that ended his IPL season, raising questions about workload management for a player still building his body for first-class cricket.
