Adil Rashid and Sam Curran recalled; Jofra Archer rested for England ODI tri-series

England have recalled Adil Rashid and Sam Curran for the ODI tri-series in Pakistan while resting Jofra Archer to manage his workload.

Adil Rashid and Sam Curran have been recalled to England's ODI squad after recovering from injury, but Jofra Archer will be rested for the tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Three uncapped players are included in the 16-player squad for the series in Pakistan, which will see Harry Brook's side play each opponent twice.

Rashid featured as England beat Sri Lanka in a home T20 series in September but the spinner then missed the ODI matches that followed because of a hand injury. Curran had appeared to be in contention for a first Test appearance since 2021 before his summer was ended by groin surgery in August.

England are also without Jos Buttler after the former skipper was ruled out of the tour with a hamstring injury suffered against Sri Lanka last month. National selector Marcus North said the tri-series provides another valuable opportunity for the ODI squad to test themselves against quality opposition in different conditions.

CricHubb Take

England's decision to rest Archer is pragmatic. The fast bowler has played across formats through a long summer, and the tri-series is less important than the tours to Australia and South Africa that lie ahead.
