Leicestershire's points deduction cut from 27 to 19

The Foxes regained eight points after appealing their sanction for the August pitch breach.

Leicestershire's 27-point deduction for breaching pitch regulations in August's win over Glamorgan has been reduced to 19 points. The Foxes were relegated from Division One of the County Championship last week.

The Cricket Discipline Panel upheld the charge against Leicestershire but reinstated eight points after a further hearing last Wednesday. The original sanction included an immediate eight-point deduction plus the 19 points earned from the win, with a further eight-point deduction suspended until the end of the 2027 season and a £5,000 fine.

Leicestershire chief executive Emma White said the club still intends to appeal against the decision. The amended decision adjusts Leicestershire's points tally in Division One to 119, 17 behind third-from-bottom Essex.

A successful appeal would lift Leicestershire out of the relegation zone, but the club's refusal to accept the charge keeps the process alive regardless of the final tally.
