Ben Stokes signs record AU$500,000 deal with Adelaide Strikers for BBL-16
Stokes signs record AU$500,000 deal with Adelaide Strikers after England retirement.
Ben Stokes agreed a one-year deal with Adelaide Strikers for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season. The former England all-rounder becomes the most expensive overseas signing in BBL history, according to multiple reports.
Stokes will be available for the entire campaign after retiring from international cricket in June. The 35-year-old has not played in the BBL for 12 years.
The deal marks his return to franchise cricket in Australia. Adelaide Oval will host his first BBL appearances since 2014.

Stokes's record fee shows that retirement from international cricket now functions as a gateway to higher franchise earnings rather than a career endpoint, reversing the traditional flow of talent and money.
