Gujarat Giants head coach Michael Klinger said the franchise released Danni Wyatt-Hodge to gain an overseas slot and accommodate her international commitments. The team retained Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Wareham, Kim Garth and Sophie Devine, while keeping Yastika Bhatia, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur and Kashvee Gautam among the Indian players.

Klinger told Star Sports that Shivani Singh became redundant with Yastika available and Titas Sadhu was let go after repeated injuries. Gujarat Giants enter the October 28 auction in Kochi with a purse of Rs 1.25 crore and aim to finish top of the table to secure a direct path to the final.

The franchise has reached the playoffs in each of the last two seasons but lost both eliminators. Klinger said the squad is strong enough to reach the championship game this time.

CricHubb Take

Releasing a proven overseas opener signals Gujarat Giants are prioritising squad balance over retaining star names, a shift that could determine whether they finally convert playoff appearances into a title.
