New Zealand to wear special 'Kotahitanga' jersey for India ODIs
New Zealand unveils culturally blended jersey for upcoming ODI series against India.
New Zealand will wear a limited-edition 'Kotahitanga' ODI jersey throughout their five-match series against India that starts on 4 November. The shirt mixes Maori kōwhaiwhai patterns with Indian lotus, ogee and mandala motifs.
Three artists worked on it: Maori designer Ben Thomason and Indian-origin designers Shiv Narandas and Jai Pancha. 'Kotahitanga' is the Maori word for unity, and New Zealand Cricket's Glenn Critchley says the design marks a century of ties between the two boards. He hopes it turns into a collector's item for fans on both sides.

The real test will come when the same jersey is offered for sale: who actually buys it, and does that number match the unity the shirt claims to represent.
