BCCI president Mithun Manhas says age not a factor in Kohli and Rohit selection for 2027 World Cup

BCCI president Mithun Manhas said fitness and performance, not age, will decide whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play the 2027 World Cup. He spoke to Sportstar.

Kohli has scored 307 runs in his last five ODIs at 76.75. Rohit has made 389 at 77.80, two of them centuries.

Manhas added that having the seniors around will help new captain Shubman Gill spread leadership duties across batting, bowling and fielding in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The real test comes in 2026: if Kohli or Rohit dip, selectors will have to choose between loyalty and the cold numbers, and the BCCI's stance gives them no political cover.
