Shreyas Iyer leads India in 21 T20Is across 114 days
India have played 21 T20Is in 114 days under Shreyas Iyer, with travel across five countries and three continents leaving minimal recovery time between matches.
Shreyas Iyer has led India in 21 T20Is across five countries and three continents in the 114 days since taking charge. The schedule has taken the side to Ireland, England, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Japan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West Indies, with New Zealand next on Thursday. India have played every match in different time zones, often without enough recovery time between fixtures.
The 31-year-old assumed the T20I captaincy after India's World Cup defence in March. He replaced Suryakumar Yadav, who was removed from the leadership role after a string of poor results. Iyer had been recalled to the squad for the first time in two years and was handed the job outright.
The current itinerary leaves India four days to reach Christchurch before the first of five T20Is against New Zealand. No further rest or preparation windows have been announced.

Four days to Christchurch, then five matches in a row against New Zealand — this is the first real test of whether Iyer's side can build any rhythm on the road.
