ICC sanctions Powell and Rutherford for Ranchi breaches
The ICC handed official reprimands and one demerit point each to Powell and Rutherford for Level 1 breaches in Ranchi.
On Monday the ICC handed both Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford a reprimand and one demerit point for their Level 1 breaches in the Ranchi T20I. Powell struck the ball away with his bat after dismissal in the sixth over and was charged under Article 2.2. Rutherford was charged under Article 2.8 after shouting at the umpire in the 13th over when a wide appeal was turned down. The players accepted the sanctions suggested by match referee Prakash Bhatt, so no hearings took place. The four umpires—Jayaraman Madanagopal, Rohan Pandit, Nitin Menon and Virender Sharma—laid the charges. The offences were the first for each player in a 24-month window.
