Pragyan Ojha named interim chief selector after Ajit Agarkar exit
Pragyan Ojha takes interim charge of the selection committee ahead of the New Zealand tour.
Pragyan Ojha has been appointed interim chairman of India's national selection committee after Ajit Agarkar's tenure ends on October 4, 2026. Ojha, who played 24 Tests for India, is expected to lead the four-member panel that includes Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra and RP Singh.
The selectors met head coach Gautam Gambhir in Guwahati on Tuesday to discuss India's upcoming tour of New Zealand. The all-format series begins on October 22 and includes five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests.
The BCCI has not yet named a permanent successor. Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel is among the candidates under consideration for the full-time position.

Ojha's interim appointment gives the panel continuity during a critical selection window. The New Zealand tour will test whether the seniority rule produces stable leadership or merely delays a larger overhaul.
