Will Pucovski sues Brighton Grammar over 2014 concussion treatment

Pucovski alleges school negligence in 2014 concussion led to career-ending head injuries.

Will Pucovski has filed a lawsuit against Brighton Grammar. He was 16 when he sustained the concussion in 2014, and he claims the school didn't handle it properly. That first blow, he says, set off a chain of thirteen more head injuries that finally ended his career at 26.

He had played 16 first-class matches and scored two centuries for Australia A before the repeated concussions forced him out.

The case will test whether the school's response met the medical standards of the time. Proceedings are expected to start later this year.

CricHubb Take

The suit could push other schools to tighten their concussion protocols, because if Brighton Grammar is found liable, the precedent will affect every junior program that still treats head knocks as something to walk off.
