Pakistan appointed Sahibzada Farhan as T20I captain for the three-match series against Sri Lanka and dropped Salman Ali Agha from the squad. The PCB announced a 15-member T20I squad and a separate 16-member ODI squad on Monday.

Farhan led Pakistan to silver at the Asian Games 2026 and topped the run charts at the T20 World Cup 2026. Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf were omitted from the T20I group but retained in the ODI squad for a tri-series against England and Sri Lanka. Razaullah earned maiden white-ball call-ups after his Test debut against England.

Shaheen Shah Afridi continues as ODI captain. Mohammad Rizwan was dropped from the ODI squad ahead of a cybercrime investigation. The T20I series starts on October 9 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The ODI tri-series begins on October 18.

CricHubb Take

The move signals a deliberate split between formats. Pakistan is testing a younger T20I core while preserving experience in ODIs ahead of the 2028 World Cup.
