Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of South Africa's ODI series against Australia after suffering a grade-three tear in his right hamstring. The injury is expected to sideline the fast bowler for nine to 10 weeks. Rabada's availability for the subsequent three-Test series remains uncertain.

CSA stated that Rabada's return for the Tests depends on how he progresses through rehabilitation. Losing Rabada would be a significant blow for South Africa, who defeated Australia in last year's World Test Championship final at Lord's.

The 31-year-old took nine wickets in that match and remains a cornerstone of the Proteas pace attack.

South Africa's depth in fast bowling will face an immediate test if Rabada misses the full home summer against Australia, Bangladesh and England.
