Afsar Zazai admitted the charge after ignoring umpire instructions during 12th man duties.

Afghanistan batter Afsar Zazai has been issued an official reprimand for breaching level one of the ICC Code of Conduct during the one-off Test against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.

Match referee Dave Gilbert found Zazai guilty of disobeying an umpire's instruction under Article 2.4 after he entered the field of play without permission while performing 12th man duties. Zazai ignored multiple instructions from on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Allahuddien Paleker not to waste time, and the incident occurred again in the 139th over when he entered without permission. Umpires Asif Yaqoob and Izatullah Safi also supported the charges.

Zazai admitted the offence and accepted the sanction. One demerit point has been added to his record, his first in a 24-month period. Level one breaches carry a minimum penalty of a reprimand and a maximum of 50 per cent of a player's match fee.

Zazai's case raises the awkward question of who briefs the support staff on the finer points of the code when a touring party is short on experience.
