BCCI names Parvinder Awana chairman of junior selection committee
The former India pacer, who played two T20Is, replaces earlier speculation around Dodda Ganesh; Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and N. Arjun Yadav join as members.
The BCCI on Friday appointed former India pacer Parvinder Awana as chairman of the junior selection committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee recommended Awana along with Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and N. Arjun Yadav as members.
Awana played two T20Is and took 191 first-class wickets in 62 matches for Delhi. He has coached Delhi's U-16, U-19 and U-23 teams and worked with India U-19 and BCCI high-performance programmes. Krishna Das represented Assam and Goa, took 166 first-class wickets and later served as India U-19 bowling coach. Rakesh Patel represented Gujarat and Baroda and coached their age-group sides. N. Arjun Yadav was part of India's 2000 U-19 World Cup-winning squad and has coached Hyderabad teams.
The panel will begin work ahead of the U-19 Asia Cup in Oman from November 5 to 14. A fifth member will be appointed shortly.

Awana's age-group coaching record and recent Delhi senior bowling coach role give the panel recent exposure to emerging fast bowlers.
