Rohit Sharma addressed the retirement speculation for the first time on Family Full House, his television show. He described the reports as persistent rumors and said he hopes they've been debunked — for himself, Karishma Kapoor, and Chunky Pandey.

The rumors surfaced ahead of India's tour of England. Some reports claimed chief selector Ajit Agarkar wanted to move on from Rohit for the 2027 ODI World Cup. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia quickly pushed back, stating Rohit wouldn't retire after the Lord's ODI and would stay as long as the team wanted him.

Current chief selector Pragyan Ojha is understood to favor keeping Rohit for now, though that could shift closer to the World Cup. Rohit responded with a century at Lord's.

CricHubb Take

The timing of Saikia's public reassurance and Rohit's century at Lord's may be connected — the BCCI rarely offers such direct backing without knowing the player's immediate plans.
