Suryansh Shedge took four wickets for 40 runs in seven overs to help India A bowl Australia A out for 274 in the first unofficial ODI in Puducherry on Tuesday. Shedge replaced Hardik Pandya in the squad and dismissed Nikhil Chaudhary, Will Sutherland, Todd Murphy and Spencer Johnson.

Nathan McSweeney top-scored for Australia A with 123 off 135 balls. He added 141 runs with Sutherland for the sixth wicket after the visitors slipped to 87 for five. Yash Thakur claimed three wickets and Arshad Khan took two for India A. Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal featured in the hosts' playing XI.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad described the side as one of the strongest India A teams in recent years. The squad includes several players with senior India caps alongside those pushing for a first call-up.

CricHubb Take

Shedge's four-wicket haul is the clearest signal yet that India A is being used as a genuine selection filter rather than a holding camp. He is not just filling a gap left by Hardik. He is staking a claim for the senior squad on performance, not pedigree.
