Vijay Zol scored 451 not out for Maharashtra Under-19 against Assam in the Cooch Behar Trophy in December 2011, breaking Yuvraj Singh's tournament record. He later captained India's Under-19 World Cup-winning side in 2012, scored a century on India A debut and an unbeaten double century on Ranji Trophy debut for Maharashtra. Zol shared a dressing room with Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle at RCB but played only 15 first-class matches.

Zol's career shows that age-group dominance and early first-class hundreds do not guarantee senior selection when opportunities are limited. His trajectory remains a case study in how quickly windows close once a generation of peers establishes itself.
