Netflix secures exclusive Spain rights for 2030 World Cup
The streaming service will broadcast all 104 matches live while a national free-to-air broadcaster carries a daily package including every Spain game.
Netflix has secured exclusive broadcast rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain, the tournament's co-host and defending champion. The streaming service will show all 104 matches of the expanded 48-team competition live while guaranteeing that Spanish fans can watch selected games on free-to-air television.
The deal, announced on Tuesday, marks Netflix's first major agreement for a men's World Cup. It follows the company's 2024 pact with FIFA for US rights to the Women's World Cup in 2027 and 2031. One match per matchday will be available free in Spain, including every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final.
The 2030 World Cup is the centenary edition. Spain will share hosting duties with Portugal and Morocco after opening matches in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. Spain and Morocco remain in competition to host the final, with the match set for either Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium or the King Hassan II Stadium near Casablanca.

The arrangement shows how streaming platforms can enter major tournaments without cutting off traditional audiences, a model that may influence future cricket broadcast deals in large markets.
