Pragyan Ojha is set to be appointed full-time chairman of the Indian senior men's selection committee, sources told NDTV on October 18, 2026. Ojha has been in interim charge since Ajit Agarkar stepped down and will be confirmed in the role pending official announcement.

Rames Powar will join the committee as the West Zone selector, replacing Agarkar. The other selectors are Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra and RP Singh. Ojha's 24 Test appearances give him more international experience than most of the current panel.

Powar previously coached the India women's team in two stints. Dodda Ganesh is expected to head the junior men's selection committee, with Arun Sharma, L. Pawar, Deep Bora and Pankaj Singh likely to serve as junior selectors. The BCCI announced squads for the upcoming New Zealand tour on October 17.

CricHubb Take

Ojha's elevation formalises a shift toward selectors with substantial Test experience, which may influence how the panel balances red-ball and white-ball priorities ahead of the New Zealand tour.
