ECB chair expresses enormous disappointment over England off-field incidents

ECB chair Richard Thompson expressed enormous disappointment over recent off-field incidents involving England players.

ECB chair Richard Thompson told Sky Sports he was enormously disappointed at recent off-field incidents involving England players. Players have to understand the respect, responsibility and pride that come with representing the national side, he said.

His comments followed footage of Brydon Carse on the big screens during the second Test against Pakistan at Lord's. Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson had already called similar incidents extreme and tiresome.

The series against Pakistan continues at Lord's. Thompson said the behaviour damages the team's reputation and pulls attention away from what happens on the field.

Thompson's remarks suggest the ECB is weighing whether one-off warnings are still enough or whether a written code of conduct for touring players is next.
