Elite umpire Nitin Menon raised his finger to dismiss Sri Lanka's Nuwanidu for one in the Asian Games men's cricket bronze medal match at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Saturday. The left-hander was given caught behind off Al Islam despite replays showing a clear gap between bat and ball.

The match was played without DRS, leaving Nuwanidu with no review option. Sri Lanka lost three wickets in the first three overs and slipped to 54 for five before Tharindu Ratnayake's 65 helped them recover to 165 for nine.

Bangladesh fell 63 runs short chasing the target, handing Sri Lanka the bronze medal. India later defeated Pakistan in the gold medal match to claim their second successive Asian Games cricket title.

CricHubb Take

The absence of DRS in a multi-nation event turns one human error into a permanent result, and that gap will only widen as technology becomes standard everywhere else.
