India to test bench strength in final ODI against Zimbabwe

India plan further rotation in the final ODI as they prepare for a demanding tour of South Africa later this year.

India will give several players a chance to stake claims when they face Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI at Vadodara on Wednesday. The series is already decided after two heavy victories for the hosts.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur is recovering from a mild fever, while Yastika Bhatia is set to make her first appearance of the series. The selectors are also considering a debut for seamer Nandini Sharma ahead of a multi-format tour of South Africa next month.

Zimbabwe have yet to complete a 50-over innings on the tour and will look to reach the 230-250 range before returning home. Sharne Mayers is expected to return after missing the second match with a groin strain.

CricHubb Take

The real value of the fixture lies in the data it produces for South Africa, not the result; every over bowled and every new cap trialled will shape selections for conditions that are far more challenging than these.
