Liton Das will captain Bangladesh in the upcoming ODI tri-series in the United Arab Emirates after recovering from a calf injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board named a 16-member squad on Saturday for the tournament that begins on October 17 and also features Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Tawhid Hridoy was appointed vice-captain, while mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam earned a maiden ODI call-up. The off-spinner has taken 35 wickets in 19 List A matches and 60 wickets in 59 T20s. Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud returns to the squad, but express pacer Nahid Rana was omitted as he continues to recover from a side strain.

Bangladesh open the tournament against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on October 17 before facing Afghanistan on October 21. The top two sides advance to the final on October 23. Zimbabwe named Sikandar Raza as captain, with Tafadzwa Tsiga and Vincent Masekesa replacing Innocent Kaia and Graeme Cremer.
