Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has paid tribute to Indian actor Nana Patekar, who died at age 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Goa residence. Ali described Patekar as a close friend who regularly called during his mother's illness and his own heart surgery recovery. The pair first connected in 2019 and maintained regular contact until Patekar's death.
Ali said Patekar had as many admirers in Pakistan as in India. Former India cricketers Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan also expressed grief on social media. Patekar's notable films include Parinda, Krantiveer and Salaam Bombay.
