India is the likely replacement venue. Sri Lanka could also lose the rights due to its sixth-place ranking in the women's ODI standings.
Sri Lanka cricket officials said they will continue efforts to host the event despite the decision. The ICC wants Sri Lanka Cricket to return to an elected administration.
