Shubman Gill backs Hardik Pandya to solve India's number seven and eight spots
Shubman Gill said Hardik Pandya's return will fix India's number seven and eight batting positions after the ODI win over New Zealand.
A Rohit Sharma run-out swung the game against New Zealand. Shubman Gill called Hardik Pandya an unmatched seam-bowling all-rounder who can bowl in any phase. He said Pandya's return would solve the number seven and eight spots that have troubled India lately.
India chased down the target by five wickets under DLS after New Zealand posted 185. Arshdeep Singh took four for 70, Gurnoor Brar three for 44, and Anshul Kamboj two for 22. Virat Kohli led the chase with 74 from 51 balls.

The bigger question is whether Pandya can stay fit enough to anchor both middle-order batting and death bowling across the three formats India must juggle next year.
