Gurnoor Brar took 4 for 30 to steer India past New Zealand by four runs via Duckworth-Lewis-Stern in the rain-affected second ODI at Henry Stadium in Wellington on November 7. India had reached 113 for 7 when further rain ended play; New Zealand were bowled out for 134.

Brar credited the win to backing from captain Shubman Gill, coach Morne Morkel, and seniors Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. "I really enjoyed it," he said after the match. The left-arm pacer admitted the West Indies series had dented him, but he'd used it to sharpen his game. India now lead the five-match series 2-0.

Brar's resurgence in seam-friendly conditions poses a real question: can India afford to keep rotating pace bowlers when they've found someone who thrives under pressure and listens? The backing from Kohli and Rohit might matter more than the fancy footwork — junior players who know they won't be dropped tend to bowl a different kind of cricket.
