India A were dismissed for 113 in 39.3 overs on the first day of the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Saturday. Five of their eight players from India's Test squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand failed to reach double figures.

KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep were all dismissed for ducks. Dhruv Jurel, captaining the side, scored one while Yashasvi Jaiswal made 17 and Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with 32. Simon Keene took five for 24.

The match serves as preparation for India's two-Test series in New Zealand. The senior side begins its tour with five T20Is followed by five ODIs before the Tests.

CricHubb Take

The five ducks among Test specialists indicate the gap between subcontinent conditions and New Zealand's seaming pitches remains wider than recent bilateral white-ball results suggested.
