Sourav Ganguly has rejected questions over a potential conflict of interest linked to his appointment as Delhi Capitals head coach. He said that an order issued by the BCCI ombudsman addresses his position while he remains president of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

Ganguly was recently appointed as the head coach of the Delhi Capitals and will take charge of the franchise ahead of the new season of the IPL in 2027. He previously served as Director of Cricket for both men's and women's teams and coached Pretoria Capitals to the SA20 final last year.

Ganguly will also serve as the head coach of the DC women's team in WPL. Delhi Capitals chairman and co-owner Parth Jindal said Ganguly has been an integral part of the family. The appointment follows Chennai Super Kings' hiring of Zaheer Khan as head coach, concluding Stephen Fleming's 19-year tenure.

CricHubb Take

The ombudsman clearance removes the legal obstacle but not the practical one. Ganguly now carries two institutional roles whose incentives may diverge when Delhi Capitals need players released for state duty or when CAB policy intersects with franchise scheduling.
