Royal Challengers Bengaluru sign four overseas and domestic players at WPL mini-auction
Royal Challengers Bengaluru added four players at the WPL mini-auction after retaining 13 core squad members.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru signed Jess Jonassen for Rs 40 lakh, Chloe Tryon for Rs 30 lakh, Tejal Hasabnis for Rs 30 lakh and Vrinda Dinesh for Rs 10 lakh at the WPL mini-auction. The franchise retained 13 players, including Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh, and entered the sale with a Rs 1.15 crore purse. Director of cricket Malolan Rangarajan said the release of Grace Harris created the flexibility needed to secure the new signings. Rangarajan noted that Tryon can bat from No. 4 to No. 7 and bowls left-arm spin, adding that he did not expect the franchise to land Vrinda Dinesh at her base price.

RCB's strategy of releasing established overseas players to free up purse space shows how franchises are adapting to the mini-auction format. The signings suggest a focus on filling specific squad gaps rather than making blockbuster acquisitions.
