Naman Dhir takes 3 for 31 on T20I debut as India bowl West Indies out for 171
Naman Dhir's 3 for 31 on debut helped India restrict West Indies to 171 before Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 102 sealed an eight-wicket win.
All-rounder Naman Dhir claimed three wickets on debut to help India bowl West Indies out for 171 in the first T20 International at Lucknow on Tuesday. Dhir finished with figures of 3 for 31, while Kuldeep Yadav took 2 for 33.
West Indies skipper Shai Hope made 52 and Sherfane Rutherford hit 56, but regular wickets prevented any substantial partnerships. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel each claimed a wicket in the sixth over, after which Dhir removed Hope, Romario Shepherd and Shamar Springer.
India chased the target with eight wickets in hand. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 102 from 43 balls, while Ishan Kishan finished on 37 not out. The pair added an unbroken 137 for the third wicket.

Dhir's ability to mix speeds and think like a batter while bowling gives India a part-time option they have lacked since Washington Sundar's decline. The 3 for 31 on debut suggests he could become a regular across formats.
