Sophie Molineux will miss Australia's three-match ODI series against Bangladesh starting October 9 in Brisbane because of a hip injury. Tahlia McGrath will captain the side, with Ashleigh Gardner named as the other co-vice-captain.

Molineux sustained the injury after returning from The Hundred and recovery has been slower than expected. Lucy Hamilton is also unavailable for the ODIs with a quad strain, leaving Australia with 12 fit players.

Molineux is expected to be fit for the T20I series against New Zealand from October 18. Darcie Brown remains sidelined with a back injury that could keep her out for up to ten weeks.

The injury opens a window for Ashleigh Gardner to lead in ODIs for the first time, giving selectors an extended look at her captaincy credentials before the 2027 World Cup cycle begins.
