Beth Mooney hits unbeaten 80 as Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Thunder

Beth Mooney scored 80 not out to guide Perth Scorchers to a 17-run win over Sydney Thunder at Drummoyne Oval on Thursday night. Scorchers posted 183 for 3 and restricted Thunder to 166 all out.

Sophie Devine batted at number three and made 32 from 23 balls before retiring in the 17th over. Freya Kemp replaced her and scored 30 from 10 balls. Mooney said Devine decided she was not hitting the ball cleanly and the team supported the call.

Kemp said Devine is a selfless player who does everything for the team. Mooney added that Kemp had a good plan and set up well. Alana King took 4 for 35 for Scorchers.
